> Languages > Greek Translations
There are no particular issues or difficulties with translations between Greek and English, either for translations into Greek from English, or translations into English from Greek.
Written Greek uses the Greek alphabet of course, not the Roman alphabet used by English and other Western European languages.

Greek translations supplied as Microsoft Office documents – Word, Excel, PowerPoint – should display correctly on almost any computer providing standard Unicode fonts are used. Nevertheless it is common to also supply Greek translations in such applications as pdf files to assist users unfamiliar with the language and avoid any possible font issues.
We don’t recommend the use of non-Unicode fonts for Greek translations supplied as Word files, as the text may not display correctly on many computers. In such cases the Greek fonts used would need to be supplied along with the translation and installed on any computer viewing the file, which may infringe copyright laws.
Greek Typesetting
Greek can be typeset as raw text in all major graphic design programs on Mac and PC using Unicode fonts. Artwork is usually delivered with the Greek text outlined to curves.
There are no particular difficulties involved in typesetting Greek, although space issues do arise as Greek translations can often be 15-20% longer than the original English text. When hyphenation is used, this must of course follow Greek and not English hyphenation patterns.
Typesetting Greek involves much the same font selection and layout considerations as apply for English artwork. Where we are working with an existing English graphic design file, either the same fonts or fonts of similar appearances can generally be used for the Greek translation.
